Name - Christie Raleigh Crossley
Age - 37
Nationality - American
Sport - Para Swimming
Previous Paras - Paris is my debut!
Best ways to manage a condition whilst training? Utilising a variety of mobility aids to best suit the activity being done in order to prevent overexertion
Best advice for living with a disability? Think outside the box because the world wasn't created to be accessible to us & getting creative is often the best solution
What motivates you? Three tiny humans that call me 'Mama'
Favourite CC design? I have Emerald Sky Crutches and High Performance Ferrules and I'm not kidding when I say they are game changers! Cool Crutches literally are the best crutches and make tasks so much easier with the attached cuffs and high performance ferrules too.
Name - Susan Seipel
Age - 37
Nationality - Australian
Sport - Paracanoe
Previous Paras - Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020
Best ways to manage a condition whilst training? Don't compare yourself with others and listen to what your body needs
Best advice for living with a disability? Adaption is key and doing research too. The disability community can provide great insight and support!
What motivates you? I find mastery very motivational. Attempting to master a new skill that I'm not very good at, practice makes perfect!
Favourite Cool Crutches? Glitter all the way! I have Purple Crutches which I love but I'm currently using Gold Glitter Crutches and I'm obsessed!
Name - Callie-Ann Warrington
Age - 24
Nationality - British
Sport - Para Swimming
Previous Paras - this is my first!
Best ways to manage a condition whilst training? Correct food before (make sure you fuel up), plenty of fluids (include electrolytes if you're like me and have a muscular condition), know your limits but still be prepared to push yourself
Best advice for living with a disability? Don't give up! Learn ways of adapting, but most of all set your own expectations and do the best you can. Don't worry about what others may think, at the end of the day you know your body best and don't be afraid to ask for help!
What motivates you? I'm a very driven person and I enjoy competing and the adrenaline you get from competing is like nothing else. I don't want to slow down I want to do everything because I know if I stop, I may not be able to do it again.
Favourite Cool Crutches? Funky Purple are my go to but I'm taking Union Jack with me to Paris!!
How would you describe Cool Crutches in 3 words? Comfortable, life changing, stylish.
Since publishing this blog Callie-Ann and Christie have smashed their first race with Christie breaking the world record in the first heat for the women's 50m freestyle - just incredible.
A big thank you to all of our ambassadors for their support but most of all for their phenomenal hard work! We are wishing you all the best of luck!!
