A folding walking stick that goes where you go

A folding walking stick, also called a collapsible or fold away walking stick, splits into sections held together by an internal cord. Pull it straight and it locks into a full length stick; fold it and it packs down to around 33cm by 18cm. Ours weigh just 376g, so you will barely notice it in your bag.

Why choose a Cool Crutches folding stick

  • Moulded handle for your left or right hand, with a soft removable neoprene grip.
  • Adjustable from about 80cm to 92cm, suiting users from 5ft 2in to 5ft 10in.
  • Supports up to 100kg (15.7st).
  • Comes with a neoprene pouch with a zip and wrist strap, so it stays tidy in your bag.
  • Four colours: black, navy, purple and pink.

Folding or standard: which is right for you?

Choose a folding walking stick if you only need support some of the time, travel often, or want one you can tuck away at a restaurant, theatre or on the train. Choose one of our standard walking sticks if you use a stick all day, every day, need a taller adjustment range, or need support over 100kg.

Travelling with a folding walking stick

Folding sticks are ideal for holidays and days out. They fit in a cabin bag or under the seat, and most airlines let you keep one with you. Read our guide to flying with a walking stick, and see the Walking Stick Travel Bundle in our bundles for a torch, Stick Safe and spare ferrule in one bag.

Folding walking stick FAQs

How do you fold a folding walking stick? Hold the handle, pull the bottom section down to release the lock, and the sections fold together on the internal cord. To open it, let the sections drop and pull until it clicks into place.

Are folding walking sticks as strong as standard ones? They are designed for everyday use up to 100kg. For heavier use or a taller user, choose a standard stick.

How small does it fold? To roughly 33cm by 18cm, small enough for most handbags.

Can I adjust the height? Yes, from about 80cm to 92cm with a push button.

Is a collapsible walking stick the same as a folding one? Yes. Collapsible, foldable, fold away and fold up walking sticks all mean the same thing.
