Last month, world-renowned England cricketer Jonny Bairstow suffered an accident while playing golf and not only broke his leg, but dislocated his ankle at the same time resulting in an urgent requirement for extensive, reconstructive surgery. Jonny explained in an exclusive to The Telegraph that he heard his leg snap and then proceeded to scream uncontrollably. What started as a relaxed game of golf with friends at Pannal Golf Club near Harrogate, ended in an emergency dash to hospital in York, surgery and an extended period of leave from cricket.
Very quickly the extent of Jonny's injury became clear, multiple fractures in his left fibula which led to a five inch plate to fix, whilst his ankle dislocation caused damage to multiple ligaments. Having used uncomfortable hospital-issued crutches first, Jonny turned to Classic Black Cool Crutches and was blown away by the difference, sharing on his Instagram that they have been a 'total game changer'.
Whilst Jonny will be 'off games' until Spring 2023 at the earliest, his passion for sport and sharing his love of Cool Crutches have meant we have had the incredible privilege of designing some crutches to accompany the England Cricket team and most importantly, their physios to the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Australia.
Here's hoping we have helped to make sure if there are any injuries the team are in safe, comfortable and silent hands. A big thank you to the physios and Jonny, keeping all our fingers crossed for a full and fast recovery!
